Play Craps - Placing An Odds Bet

The craps table has been made famous by its huge array of betting options – some of which deliver a lotto like game and can payout big sums of cash. However, while the allure of craps' slick bets may be strong for some gamers, those in the know tend to avoid them! Instead, logical craps players hit the table with the aim of making the casino's advantage as small as possible. Check out the keys to playing online craps with a very low house edge…………

The magic of the Odds bet

Although you may not know it – the craps odds wager is probably the best bet in the casino world (naturally, we are not including lucky bets such as jackpot slot spins!). We're talking about a craps bet that virtually eliminates the casino's usual advantage over the player!

On many craps tables – the wager is not even listed, because although the bet is 100% legal, the casinos love to hide it from novice gamers. So, if you didn't know about it – this is your lucky day!

Placing the Odds bet

The Odds wager can be placed after you have selected to play the Pass Line bet. In essence, the Odds bet is placed behind the Pass Line bet on the craps table. Once the craps shooter makes a point, the player receives even money rewards for the basic Pass Line wager, but the odds bet deliver a payout punch…..

4-10 point = 2 to 1 payout
5-9 point = 3 to 2 payout
6-8 point = 6 to 5 payout

At some casino venues – you'll be given the option of placing double wagers on the odds bet, so if you placed £20 on Pass Line, you could place £40 on the odds!

Simply put, the odds bet is an incredible wager – because it has zero house advantage! Of course, because it must be combined with the Pass Line bet, there is a small casino edge, but it's a tiny 0.61%. That makes the odds bet and craps the best bet in the casino.

Casual gamers can easily combine the odds bet with a basic craps strategy and greatly enhance their battle against the casino. You may beat the table every time – but you'll have a much better chance than gamers who don't know about the odds bet and simple strategic craps gaming.

What is a Pass Line bet

The Pass Line bet is placed on the Pass Line area before the Come Out roll. If you roll a 7 or 11, you win and the round is complete. If you roll a 2, 3, or 12, the bet is lost. Any other number (4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10) becomes the point. You win the Pass Line bet if the point number is rolled before a 7. You lose the Pass Line bet if a 7 is rolled before the point. A winning Pass Line bet pays even money (1 to 1).
